      Thanks to all who came out for our Workers' Memorial Day ceremony at the Old Courthouse/Museum of History this morning. We had words of wisdom from Brandy Elmore about watching out for each other's mental health and suicide prevention. Brandy is a Social Worker at Bloomington Public Schools and a Bloomington Education Association union member, with a Masters of Social Work. Her words about taking care of the children when a parent commits suicide or is addicted struck home and reminded us to watch out for each other. She is also a Democratic county board candidate in District 9. Thanks to all who attended.

      In the tangled multinational web we currently inhabit, an elaborate scheme that involved Chinese, Spanish and Mexican firms employing Mexican nationals at the Rivian electric vehicle plant in Normal spurred investigation by Illinois Attorney General (AG) Kwame Raoul and the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL).  The result was almost $400,000 in a wage and penalty settlement.

      McLean County union volunteers were out in force during December, helping brighten the holidays with the 39th annual Children’s Christmas Party for low-income families and assisting the Salvation Army with food and toy distributions.
