Bloomington High and other high school bands are a real Labor Day Parade treat. |
|
The 2017 McLean County Labor Day Parade will march at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 4, from Front and Roosevelt Streets in downtown Bloomington. The 2017 parade theme is "Union Labor: Working for Community Progress."
The parade is Bloomington's largest. It features local union marching units, high school bands, Illinois State University's Big Red Marching Machine, community organizations, construction equipment, elected officials and community organizations.
"Thanks to decent wages, conditions and a voice on the job, working people have a better life through a union," said Ronn Morehead, Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly President. "Organized together, union members not only financially support their community, they also give back through community projects and generous donations."
The registration form and parade rules are attached here. The entry fee is $15 for non-profit organizations, $20 for politicians and for-profit businesses. All groups agreeing to the rules are welcome to participate.
